Due to the way that ventrilo bills all of its authorized hosting companies we must impose certain License Recovery Fees (hereon, LRF) when certain actions are performed. We attempt to bill these in the fairest possible method and as such we are defining how and when we bill you for these actions on this page.

Most of our LRF's are billed on a seperate invoice charged to your prepaid balance at the begining of each month for the previous months usage.

Types of License Recovery Fees (LRF)

Last Updated: 2010-01-01Suspended Servers

We impose a charge of $0.10 per slot per month, for each day a server is suspended when it is reactived within the same month. If the server is not reactivated in the same month then no LRF charge is imposed.


Examples:

• In the chart above, a 25 slot server, "server1" was disabled on Janurary 10th and reactivated on Janurary 20th. You will be billed the normal rate for Jan. 10th and Jan. 20th and billed a LRF fee for 11-19 (9 days). Your LRF fee will be calculated like this:

  LRF per day:     ((25 slots * $0.10) / 31 days) = $0.09
  Total LRF:         (9 days * $0.09) = $0.81
  

  
  
• Server 2, a 35 slot server, was disabled on Janurary 10th and reactivated on Feburary 20th. You will not be billed for an LRF in either Janurary or February because the server was not reactivated within the same month. The same method applies to server 3, and server 4 in the chart.

When you change a servers slot count we bill you each day for the highest slot count for that server for that day. However, we are billed, for the "Highest Slot Count in the Month" from ventrilo. For this reason we must bill the LRF fee for the periods within the month where your slot counts were less.

The LRF charged will be the difference between the maximum slot count per day and the maximum slot count per month at a rate of $0.10 per slot.


Examples:

• Server Downgrade:
  Taking "Server 1" from the chart above into consideration. Lets say you downgrade the server on Janurary 10th from 25 slots to 5 slots. For your daily billing on Janurary 10th you are billed for 25 slots and from Janurary 11th to the 31st you will be billed for 5 slots. However, because ventrilo continues to bill a license fee at the 25 slot rate until the end of the month we must recover this cost and we will bill you a LRF on 20 slots from Janurary 11th until Janurary 31st (21 days). In this example the LRF will be calculated like this:

  LRF per day:     ((20 slots * $0.10) / 31 days) = $0.07
  Total LRF:         (21 days * $0.07) = $1.47
  

  
  
• Server Downgrade and then Upgrade:
  Lets look at "Server 2", a 35 slot server, in the chart above. On Janurary 15th it was downgraded to 25 slots and then upgraded back to 35 slots on Janurary 20th. On Janurary 15th and 20th daily bills you will be billed for 35 slots and from Janurary 16th to Janurary 19th (4 days) you will be billed for 25 slots. We will impose a 10 slot LRF from Janurary 16th until Janurary 19th for 10 slots. In this example the LRF will be calculated like this:

  LRF per day:     ((10 slots * $0.10) / 31 days) = $0.04
  Total LRF:         (4 days * $0.04) = $0.16
  

  
  

Last Updated: 2010-03-11Port/Location Switch

When you change a servers port number or location we must charge you a LRF at a rate of $0.10/30 per slot for the new location/port on the day in which you moved the server. Unlike most of the other LRFs this charge is calculated and billed daily directly on your daily services invoice. It will not be billed seperately on the monthly LRF invoice as these are fixed-known daily costs.

If you move a 10 slot server 3 times in one day giving you a 4 unique ip:port combinations you will be billed as follows:
